Which electric car models stand out this year? Especially the prices of electric cars have been a topic of discussion lately, but now more affordable options are starting to come to the market. The range is also a concern for many, and the new models offer solutions to this problem as well.

We have compiled the most interesting new electric cars for 2024.

Smart #1 and smart #3

A powerful duo with high equipment levels

The new all-electric smart models, smart #1 SUV and smart #3 coupé SUV, are now available for pre-order in Finland. Both models offer stylish design, energy efficiency, and high-level equipment, including premium finishing.

The models share the same basic structure, offering 49 kWh or 66 kWh batteries and they charge quickly. Equipment includes, among others, a panoramic glass roof, LED headlights, and adaptive cruise control.

In the EURO NCAP crash test, the smarts received the full 5 stars, and the highest equipment levels are four-wheel drive BRABUS models. Factory-installed options cannot be added to the cars, but it is possible to install a tow hook.

Polestar 4

An interesting novelty without a rear window

Polestar 4 is the new curvy SUV of the Polestar family, with a starting price of €63,300. In size, Polestar 4 is positioned between Polestar 2 and 3. At its best, the car's range reaches up to 610 kilometers. This speedster accelerates from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds.

Interestingly, Polestar 4 does not have a traditional rear window, but it has been replaced with a rear-view camera, improving the comfort of the interior and allowing the panoramic roof to extend to the rear seats. The rear seats have electrically reclining seats and their own control screen for air conditioning and media.

Polestar 4 also offers new color options for the exterior and interior. Equipment packages include, among others, Pilot Pack, Plus Pack, and Pro Pack, which bring additional driving aids, comfort features, larger wheels, and details to the design. Interior materials include, for instance, MicroTech vinyl made from pine oil and Econyl recycled fiber.

Porsche Macan

A familiar model electrified and enhanced with updates

Porsche Macan has now been updated as a fully electric SUV. The new Macan is Porsche's second electric car model after the Taycan. It offers four-wheel drive, permanent magnet synchronous motors, an exceptional position for the rear motor and the absence of a gearbox, allowing a top speed of 260 km/h. The car has up to 540 liters of cargo space and a 270 kW charging power.

The new electric car offers the possibility of two different packages: Macan 4, which offers a power of 408 horsepower, and Macan Turbo, with 639 horsepower. Macan 4 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Turbo version in just 3.3 seconds. The range is 613 km for Macan 4 and 591 km for Turbo.

The new Macan is also more aerodynamic and slightly larger than its predecessor, offering a better drag coefficient and more space and cargo space. In terms of technology, the car offers an advanced digital dashboard, a multi-function display, and an augmented reality HUD display as an option. Prices in Finland start from €84,990 for Macan 4 and €124,490 for Macan Turbo.

Citroën ë-C3

The cheapest electric car on the market

Citroën ë-C3 stands out in the market with its simplified but distinctive design, straightforward material choices, and two-tone exterior. Perhaps the biggest distinguishing feature, however, is the car's affordable price, starting at €24,990, making ë-C3 the cheapest on the market.

This sensibly compact electric car offers adequate space for both passengers and goods, thanks to a 310-liter trunk. Its key strengths are a 320-kilometer range, covering most people's daily driving needs, a 44 kWh battery with quick charging that allows charging from 20–80 percent in 26 minutes.

Models arriving in Finland can be equipped for winter conditions, for example, with seat heating. ë-C3's electric motor produces a power of 83 kW, accelerates from zero to one hundred in 11 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 135 km/h. A new feature in the cabin is the C-Zen Lounge dashboard concept, where the dashboard is completely replaced with a display projected at the bottom of the windshield.

An even more affordable city version is promised for 2025, promising a 200-kilometer range with a smaller 30 kWh battery.

Renault Scenic

A fully electric family car with a promising range

The new Renault Scenic is a fully electric family car that stands out with its long range and spacious interior. It offers a 68 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 470 kilometers. The car charges quickly, with a maximum charging power of 130 kW, allowing it to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

The Scenic's design combines SUV elements with a spacious MPV interior, providing a high level of comfort for passengers. The car has a large 540-liter trunk, which can be expanded to 1,660 liters by folding down the rear seats. The interior features a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster.

The starting price for the Renault Scenic is €44,990, making it a competitive option for families looking for an electric vehicle with a long range and spacious interior.

Peugeot e-3008

The new generation of 3008 electrified

Peugeot has launched the fully electric e-3008 model, marking the brand's transition to a new level in the electric vehicle segment. This C-segment SUV is the first vehicle from the Stellantis group to be built on the new STLA platform, and it has already arrived in Finland.

The e-3008 stands out from its competitors, such as the Volkswagen ID.4 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, by offering up to a 525-kilometer WLTP range, 160 kilowatt charging speed, and a towing capacity of 1,250 kilograms.

Peugeot aims to convert its entire lineup to fully electric by 2025, and by 2030, the brand plans to sell only fully electric cars in Europe.

Prices for the e-3008 in Finland start at €38,950 for the hybrid model, while the fully electric versions start at €49,390. A Long Range version is also planned for the future, which will offer a 98 kilowatt-hour battery and a 700-kilometer range, as well as a four-wheel drive version, which will be introduced in 2025.
